We’ve had a lovely time enjoying some autumnal events across our houses throughout October and November.

Our houses decorated for the season, with a door wreath and lovely mantel display at Beamsley House, Eastbourne. It felt very autumnal and cosy! Beachside in Worthing had a table display and Abbeyfield house in Tunbridge Wells went all out with Halloween table decorations.

Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night was a great excuse to put some warming pies and stews on the menu. At Beamsley House Pandora the cat joined our residents for dessert – we think she was hoping for one too! You can see a sample menu below.

Fireworks Night Menu at Beachside, Worthing

• Lunch: Campfire Stew, followed by Caramel Apple Crumble
• Supper: Hot Dogs plus Firey Cupcakes (with indoor sparklers on top!)

Tenants have started a new film club at Beachside, Worthing. The first film evening showed The Lady in the Van starring the late Maggie Smith. A couple of tenants also suggested a book swap, so they’ve begun to grow a library of books that tenants can borrow and swap among the house.

In Tunbridge Wells, we celebrated a very special birthday. Tenant Rosalie turned 98 and celebrated with homemade sherry trifle & birthday cake!

Halloween

All our houses enjoyed Halloween, embracing the theme for some fun menus - see a sample menu below.

Halloween Menu at Abbeyfield House, Tunbridge Wells

• Lunch: Beef & Pumpkin Stew, vegetarian option Pumpkin & Spinach Grill
• Dessert: Pumpkin Pie

At Abbeyfield House, Hove, we had a wonderful Halloween party and was joined by the tenants from Beachside, Worthing for the day.

On the menu we had beef chilli, loaded jacket potatoes, hot dogs, french fries, side of salmon, king prawns, mixed salads and mini prawn cocktails.

For the desserts; selection of cupcakes, mini chocolate mousse, chocolate brownies, fruit skewers with chocolate foundation, toasted marshmallows and pumpkin cheese. We are very proud of our team – they really smashed the Halloween theme! A great day was had by all.
