Welcome to our house

Located in Hove, Abbeyfield House consists of two recently renovated three-story Edwardian style semi-detached properties that were joined together in 2017 to provide more space and improved facilities for our residents and staff. We offer a variety of single studio accommodation for 17 people, all of which have en-suite facilities.

The house features an established walled garden and patio area across the rear of the house, which is a lovely sun trap in the afternoon. Our communal space and gardens have been renovated so they can encourage friendships to form between tenants, with premium tea and coffee making facilities that residents can use for themselves or with visitors.

We have a diverse group of tenants who enjoy spending time together and are the heart of our house, with their choices helping to shape how the house is run. We provide a home from home in a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where our residents can remain as independent as possible.

Location

Our house is near to the centre of Hove, which is a vibrant town close to Brighton. We’re only a short walk from the seafront and are close to local amenities, shops, and leisure and amusement options.

Hove is full of places of historical significance & cultural value, as well as areas of natural beauty, or leisure and amusement opportunities.

House life

Abbeyfield House offers comfortable single studio accommodation. Tenants self-cater for breakfast, while lunch is provided fresh every day by our House team in our communal dining area. A prepared light supper is also provided.

Tenants can decide where and when to take their meals, while facilities are available within the communal areas to store and heat personal food.

Your team

The team at Abbeyfield House are available daily from 9am-2pm. The house staff are there to provide catering and to be a source of support, to aid independence. We are unable to provide personal care or assistance with medication, but we can help you to arrange any support needed in these areas.

"We want our tenants to feel that Abbeyfield House is a home from home. I and my team do as much as we can to make tenants feel comfortable and yet, make sure we know when someone needs private time."  – Peta Lambird, Senior House Manager

Testimonials

“I came to live in Brighton and Hove from Africa as my son and his family lived in Hove. I didn’t know anyone in the UK apart from my family so I wanted to live somewhere where I could be independent but also where there would be other people to socialise with, and Abbeyfield turned out to be the ideal place. I have a very nice flat overlooking the garden from which I can come and go as I please. The garden is also very pleasant to sit out in when the weather is suitable. Another plus is that it is only a five-minute walk to the seafront and town, also there is plenty of bus stops to various places as well. The staff are very friendly and helpful as are all the people who live here. It is definitely the best of both worlds; if like me you want independence but also people around to be sociable with.
