Welcome to our house

Located in the picturesque village of Alfriston, Abbeyfield House is a purpose-built house constructed in 1985. It comprises of nine single occupancy en-suite rooms all with easy access to the beautiful gardens which surround the house. All of our rooms come unfurnished, allowing you to add a personal touch to your room and bring your favourite items from home.

The house has a large, open plan dining room and conservatory/lounge area, that is full of light with a lovely homely feel and ample parking for visitors. The house is situated next to the local primary school and just a five-minute easy walk to the village shops.

What makes our house special is its quiet location which provides tranquillity and peacefulness, but we also have a strong house community where tenants socialise together for coffee and meals. We want our residents to feel like this is their home from home by providing a friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible, but have help and support from our caring and compassionate staff when they need it.

Location

Our house is only a short walk away from the village shops, doctor’s surgery and local amenities. The village of Alfriston offers a bustling and warm community spirit with many groups and organisations for you to be a part of, along with a regular bus service to the towns of Lewes, Seaford and Eastbourne.

Alfriston is a picturesque village at the foot of the South Downs national park. The village’s picture-postcard views are a tourist attraction during the summer months with its traditional pubs, tea rooms and restaurants - ideal to spend the day out with visiting family and friends.

House life

This is a quiet location with a strong house community. Tenants meet daily for morning coffee and meals. Lunch and light supper are provided by our house staff daily, while breakfast is self-catered with provisions of your choice supplied by us as part of your tenancy.

Tenants are supported by the house volunteer team that offer companionship and arrange special events and trips. There is a regular exercise group that is also open to people in the surrounding area.

Visiting hairdresser, chiropodist and optician services are available at the house.

Your team

Abbeyfield House staff are available daily. Our house staff are there to provide your catering service and be a source of support, to aid your independence. We are not able to provide personal care or assistance with medication but we can help you to arrange the support you need in these areas.
